Greetings from a land far far away...just kidding. I'm sitting in my bed at home. This is my first blog entry ever so forgive me if it's not up to par with all the other wonderfully talented bloggers out there. I'm got one of these so I can keep my family, friends and whoever else stumbles upon this blog up to date during this coming year of total domination...
Tomorrow I will be venturing off to a new adventure teaching English in Thailand! I know, I know it's crazy! Ever since graduating last August, I couldn't for the life of me decide what I wanted to do with my life as far as a career goes. I've been working in an office for the past year and I can honestly say I never want to sit at another desk all day for the rest of my life. So when deciding what my next move should be, I stumbled across this CIEE teach abroad program and applied not thinking I would even get in and low and behold an acceptance letter came my way this past June! Whoohoo!
For the past few months I've been running around getting ready for my year long adventure in Suphan Buri, Thailand, taking a TEFL teaching course online, observing local ESOL classes, getting shots that made me faint (seriously I fainted twice), booking flights, learning a little Thai (which is no joke really really hard) and researching all things Thailand! My parents were a little hesitant about the idea, but they've come around. I mean it's getting me out of their house so I'm sure they're pretty stoked to finally be empty nesters. Ha I'm sure they're sad that I'll be gone for so long but after 25 years of raising 3 kids and sending them off to college, I'm sure the last thing they were expecting was for one of them to return for another victory lap year of living with them. So with that, I wanna first and foremost dedicate my first post to my amazing rentals and thank them for all their love and support as I venture off on this crazy journey. It's around 2 am here in good ole' SC and I have to be up in about 5 hours, but I couldn't leave the US without blogging once before I leave. So bare with me as I try to keep everyone up to date on every adventure over the next year!
"We travel not escape life, but for life not to escape us"
(And yes I will be that girl who will be ending every post with a quote #sorrynotsorry)
